MacBook Air M4: Apple apparently plans March release

Apple seems to rely on a step-by-step procedure in the spring. After the iPhone 16e was introduced last week, the next step seems to continue with the MacBook Air (MBA) M4 – if not yet. The usually well-informed Bloomberg Apple reporter Mark Gurman would have heard that.

Like last year in March

In his Newsletter from the weekend he writes that Apple has now started the “preparations”. Gurman, on the other hand, does not believe in a performance in February. Instead, informed circles informed him that it should now be March – whether the beginning, middle or end, is unclear. “As I hear, the company is now preparing for the market launch in March and has started preparing its marketing, sales and retail teams for the device debut,” writes Gurman. In the case of current models, inventory in the shops would now be dismantled, which is “another sign that the market launch is imminent”.

As usual, Apple plans two MBA models that receive the M4 introduced last year (without Max and Pro). The form factor with 13 and 15 -inch display probably does not change, even with other inner life there will be little changes. Instead of Wi-Fi 6e, Apple could switch to Wi-Fi 7, otherwise nothing has so far leaked through.

Model selection up to date – and the question of the M5

Apple is currently selling the MacBook Air M3 with 13 inches from 1299 euros. 1599 euros are due at 15 inches. At the same time, the old model with M2 SoC is also sold, but only with 13 inches. The M3 came onto the market in March 2024, accordingly the termination of the M4 would fit well. However, there will be M5-MACs this year, believes the rumor mill.

MacBook Pro models can be expected in autumn at the latest, alternatively Apple could also equip the iPad Pro with the M5 in May. Last year, the professional tablet series surprisingly received the brand new chip-together with the switch from the LCD screen to OLED. At Apple, this could also have been an outlier. Users had criticized that due to the restricted IPADOS operating system on the iPad Pro M4, the powerful chip technology could only be used (or leaves).
