In recent years, iPhone prices have remained unchanged, but as the brand new model with Apple's folding display will move sharply. The folding iPhone is expected to cost almost as many as two of the most expensive iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The starting price of the folding iPhone will start at $ 2300 in the US, according to analyst Tim Long of Barclays. Not only will this make it the most expensive Apple smartphone so far, but also nearly twice as expensive than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the price of which starts at $ 1199.
Earlier this month, we heard from the Ming-Chi Quo analyst that the first smartphone with Apple's folding display will cost between $ 2000 and $ 2500, so all forecasts are beginning to clarify and point to the same amount.
Quo believes that despite the high cost, the interest in a folding iPhone would be high as long as the device qualities meet the expectations of users. A key trump card for Apple would be the achievement not to have a visible fold in the display – something that has not yet been quite achieved with Android models.
The first folding iPhone is expected to have a 7.8 “interior screen and rather an unusually small 5.5” external display. The main camera will be dual, there will be another one for selfies and video chats, the Face ID will be replaced by a Touch ID fingerprint scanner in the switch button, and the battery will be of high density – just like the expected in the iPhone 17 Air.
The prognosis is that the smartphone is only 4.5 mm thin in the unfolded position and between 9 and 9.5 mm in the folded. The frame would be titanium and the hinge – a mix between titanium and steel.
Apple is expected to release its first folding phone so far at the end of 2026.
