For a long time, Openai led the App Store charts in the field of productivity with his Ki app Chatgpt. This went so far that competitors Xai even feared that Apple did not treat AI providers fairly and submitted a lawsuit. Now Google has conquered first place with its Ki app Gemini. The reason is a new image model with the project name Nano Banana, which causes a stir, especially in social media. But be careful: In the App Store there are also many fake apps that want to capitalize on the hype.
Nano Banana, which is included in the 2.5 Flash model as Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, has three strengths that apparently are particularly well received by its users. The first is that the model depicts people very precisely. Facial features and identity characteristics of people of uploaded photos are transferred to the AI processing. Second, Nano Banana has a very good understanding of language, which simplifies to implement motif requests for users. And thirdly, the model is estimated for its ability to combine several pictures into a motif. For example, two people from separate pictures can be combined into a group picture.
Perfect for fun pictures
A lot can be done with these skills for fun pictures and fake photos. Google also accompanied the introduction with a mysterious campaign, where it was not clear who was behind the model behind the model. The model is also very quick in the image position. Created photos are provided with invisible synthid water signs in order to make them identifiable as AI images. Nevertheless, it can be read in comments that the Deepfakes model could make even easier and more salonable because they are so easy and realistic to create.
However, success also has a view of the App Store dark sides. Businessmakers feel the chance of quick money. Under the search term “Nano Banana” there are currently a number of apps of ominous origin that allude to the AI image editing. In our sample, we found apps that want to move users by buying an app to pay up to 70 euros per month. In reality there is no independent nano banana app, but the function is part of Google’s Gemini app.
