In addition to improved Siri: new Apple “Home Hub” supposedly also postponed

With Apple's AI features and suitable products, the schedule will slip: After the group confirmed on Friday that important new features with the voice assistant Siri will probably have to be serviced for another year, a hardware project is now also said to have been postponed. It is about the so -called Home Hub, a new control unit for the smart home with Homekit, which should obviously focus on Apple Intelligence.

Like the Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reportedI actually planned Apple to present the device with the code name J490 in March. The Home Hub is supposed to combine an iPad-like-albeit smaller-screen with control functions for the home. The problem: The device-at least partially-places on the now delayed Siri functions, which is why it must now be postponed.

However, Gurman does not write what this means for the schedule. With the postponed Siri features, one now expects that they will not come before 2026. At least Apple writes that you are now expecting a rollout “next year”. It remains unclear whether the Home Hub has to wait so long. In the meantime, Apple is said to have started testing the Home Hub internally. Selected employees were allowed to take the device home and then to give “frequent feedback” to the developers. The device shouldn't be technically complex, in the meantime it was said that it was combined with a new HomePod speaker.

Before the decision to postpone the new Siri features, there are said to have been conflicts internally. Software boss Craig Federighi announced that the functions in his personal tests would not have worked correctly-or how advertised. There were apparently numerous open bugs in the project that had promised a “more personalized Siri”. This ultimately led to the shift.

Some believed some in the Apple AI department, writes Bloomberg In another reportthat the work on the functions could be completely set and Apple may have to program the functions from scratch. “The skills would then be delayed up to the next generation of Siri to launch Apple in 2026,” writes the financial news agency.
