For my car radio, I regularly copy music to a USB stick. For reasons of space, I only transfer the folders of my favorite interpreter. If new albums come from them, I have to transmit the changed content manually. Isn't that automated?

For this application, the free Smartbackup proven. This allows you to secure any number of source folders in a target folder – and also update.
After starting in the right sidebar, add your USB stick as a goal.
Open the backup settings via the button with the three points and deactivate the options “Archive deleted files” and “archive changed files”.
The tool does not fully write the USB stick with archived data.
Then open the media folder of your media library in the finder, for example ~/Musik/Music/Medien/Music
. There you will find the interpreters. Drag the desired artists to the left area of smartbackup. Each folder gets its own entry.
Via the fold -out menu on the right, you determine whether it should be synchronized or not. This is practical to temporarily “rule out” a folder for reasons of space.
Then it will be removed from the stick at the next backup process. If you want to exclude certain albums of an interpreter – i.e. subfolders -, also move them into the list and select “Exclude” in the fold -out menu.
