Some of the apps only work online and send the scans to recognize a server from the manufacturer. Most of them are not in Germany or Europe, at least only one provider advertises. Many apps can also be used offline, although the results are sometimes different.
As a test device, we used an iPhone 16 Pro, which with a 48 megapixel sensor has enough reserves in the resolution. If possible, we have switched off the flashing or permanently shining LED. At the short distance, you cannot illuminate a DIN-A-4 sheet of hardware due to hardware and leads to overexposure. All candidates had to read a typical invoice, a colored page from the Mac & I with a negative text and a table with framed cells.
