iOS 18.6, MacOS 15.6 and Co.: Apple stuffs numerous security gaps

Apple users should record the updates for iOS 18, MacOS 15 and the other operating systems published on Wednesday night: again the manufacturer has rolled out a lot of fixed problems for safety-related problems. In the meantime, details have also been communicated by a support document. So come alone iOS 18.6 and iPados 18.6 With a total of two dozen error deposits – plus 13 others that Apple does not (once again), only indicates the respective detectors (Acknowledgments).

Most bugs are once again in Apple’s browser engine webkit-eight detailed plus is another that Apple does not carry out in more detail (interestingly, this comes from the Google V8 Security Team). The web kit errors can let sensitive data flow, the address strip spoofen, corrupt and crash the memory and lead to denial-of service attacks. In the area of accessibility, it was discovered that voiceover can read out passcodes and under certain circumstances camera and microphone indicator are not displayed correctly. Errors in Coraudio, Coremedia and Coremedia Playback caused storage errors, crashes and the exposure of certain data. Two errors affect the 3D framework Model I/O, one the graphic interface Metal. External content was partially loaded in Apple Mail, although the user did not want that.

MacOS 15.6 Contains significantly more fixes than the mobile operating systems: there are a total of over 80 plus 16 acknowledgments. How this difference occurs compared to iOS and iPados remained unclear. Several of the errors allow malicious apps to obtain root rights (including in storagekit, kernel, package kit, applemobile fleintrity and core services). Apple does not (initially) not call remote exploits. Bugs of different heavier are also in the GPU drivers (system crash), where is it? (Fingerprinting option) and managed configuration (Lockdown mode could be deactivated). There are also numerous error loops for web kit bugs. Apple did not provide any information on whether errors are already being used – no corresponding reports are mentioned.

Information on the fixes in Watchos 11.6,, TVOS 18.6 and Visionos 2.6 Apple has now also published. Watchos and tvos each fix sub -areas of the gaps, which were also remedied in iOS and MacOS.

The same applies to Visionos 2.6 – “Special Bugs” does not seem to exist here. Apple also provides updates for Maco’s SONOMA (July 14th),, Macos Ventura (July 13th) and Ipados 17 (17.7.9) Ready to deliver the parts of the fixes from the other operating systems, but unfortunately not all as usual. Information about a single update for Safari (18.6) was initially not available-it is also part of MacOS 15.6.
