If you want to listen to Spotify intensively, you can get a new subscription option in Germany, Austria and Switzerland: With the additional option “Audiobooks+”, users can also hear for 15 hours a month. Together with the twelve hours included in the standard, this results in a hearing time of 27 hours a month.
In order to be able to subscribe to the additional option “audio books+”, you must first have a premium subscription. The additional option then costs 9 euros per month. Together with the Premium subscription Individual, you pay 20 euros a month to be able to listen to music and 27 hours in the Spotify audio book library.
Audio books: Spotify vs. Amazon
Amazon’s music streaming service Prime Music remains an alternative to Spotify, where you can hear an audio book from the Audible catalog per month since June. Amazon’s approach works a little differently than with Spotify: Users can hear an audiobook per month from the Audible catalog, the length of the audio book does not matter. A new audio book can only be started in a new subscription month. If you can’t do your audiobook in a month, you can continue to listen to it in the second month, you can no longer start a second audio book this month.
Amazon Music Unlimited costs 11 euros per month by default, prime customers only pay 10 euros per month. If you plan your audiobook consumption cleverly, you can keep a better price-performance ratio out of the Amazon solution than with Spotify. The Swedish streaming service, on the other hand, offers the advantage of flexibility in its audio book model-such as the possibility to try out several audio books per month.
In addition, audiobook fans at Amazon have the opportunity to book an audio subscription. This is particularly suitable for people who are not about music. The Audible subscription costs 10 euros a month and offers a voucher per month that can be redeemed against any audio book from the portfolio. These audio books can be listened to in your own library over any period of time.
