Does Apple bring a second version of the Vision Pro this year? The usually well-informed Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman wants to have heard appropriate information and predicts various new functions for Apple’s second headset. Apple supposedly wants to solve at least one of the biggest problems in the first version – and also deliver other improvements, it is said In the report.
New suspension brings head relief
The vision per is currently in two main problems: it is very expensive at least 4000 euros and is rather limited in wear due to its weight and the battery connected by cable. For this, Apple got a lot of praise for the high-resolution screen, the immersion and the eye and hand tracking, which still has not reached the competition from Meta (Quest). Apple is now planning to partially solve the comfort problem, says Gurman.
Demnacb is said to have an updated vision pro, which may still appear in 2025, have a new suspension with a headband (head band) so that the headset can be carried conveniently. Apple is currently supplying two different ligaments, which, however, do not fit everyone well. Accessory providers are trying to remedy the situation here. Apple is supposed to check new headbands internally that can help avoid both head and neck pain. Allegedly, however, the Pro itself should hardly be easier in the second version.
More performance thanks to M4 chip
According to Gurman, Apple also provides for an improved inner life for Vision Pro 2. Instead of the outdated M2 SoC, it should now be an M4, but not the M5, which is probably published for the first time in autumn. It is conceivable that Apple misses more cores of the AIM unit (Neural Engine) built into it-many important areas of vision Pro such as eyetracking are controlled. The aim of the upgrade is to keep the Vision Pro relevant. The first model came onto the market in the USA in spring 2024, and then in Europe in summer. The device is obviously not really well sold. Most recently, Apple had announced a new operating system VISIONOS 26, which includes scrolling with eyes and new avatars.
According to Gurman, a “real” new Vision Pro is not expected until 2027. Among other things, the redesign should significantly lower the weight of the headset. Furthermore, a new model with Mac-Tthering is planned for professional applications and Apple still dreams of real augmented reality glasses.
