DJ feature for Apple Music: Make Mixed maximum

In the next version of Apple Music under iOS 26 and Ipados 26, Apple delivers some useful functions. So there should be a kind of DJ mode for the first time, as you know it from Spotify. In addition, Apple adds new display options and the display of lyrics in phonetic writing, so that you can sing along without language skills. In addition, there is also the well-known “Liquid Glass” design, which is also implemented in the group’s other apps.

The new DJ function bears the name Automix and complements the previous fading function (CrossFade), which, however, only worked very easily. According to Apple, Automix works “like a DJ” and “knows how to let songs merged seamlessly”. Activation is simple if you have released the function in the app settings: it can be found in the same area in which you have so far activated repetition, random reproduction or Apple’s “Autoplay” feature, each selecting the right songs next.

The song is previously analyzed with AI technology and the system uses a beat matching function including time-stretching to adapt both titles. According to Apple, the app can also find “the perfect moment” for the transition. Laboring, Automix is not an explicit Apple intelligence feature, so the function does not cause a iPhone that is compatible.

Furthermore, new in Apple Music is a translation for song texts if they are available. If you want to sing along, but do not master the respective language, you can now also activate “Lyrics Pronunciation”, i.e. a phonetic writing. Finally, Apple Music shows animations with cover depictions in full screen and allows “to spin” favorite playback lists on the overview page.

Apple Music will receive the new functions from autumn as part of the updates to iOS 26 and iPados 26 – you will probably also end up on the Mac (with MacOS 26). Apple Music is a paid streaming service that currently costs 11 euros a month. The app is pre-installed on Apple devices. From July it should be public Beta versions of the new operating systems that can then be freely tested. A developer beta phase is currently underway.
