New details about the iPhone-Foldable: Start of production soon?

When will Apple finally come to the first foldable device, for which the group is currently preparing software? According to TF International Securites, the latest information from the usually well-informed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo did not take long-albeit longer than many users hope. According to the information, production will start at least preparatory, but the delivery will take until 2026.

Premium product in planning

Like Kuo in one Report to investors writes that Apple’s finished Foxconn is expected to start the project “officially in the late third quarter of 2025” or in the early fourth quarter of this year. However, Apple has apparently not yet completed the component specification, which is supposed to include the important folding hinge. The latter is said to be astonishing in the supplier market.

After all, Apple is said to have completed the selection of the screen supplier and specification. Samsung Display (SDC) should initially deliver seven to eight million panels. However, this should not be the full capacity, because the foldable will probably only be produced for a few months in 2026, the main production will then take place from 2027. Apple allegedly wants to order 15 to 20 million devices, Kuo continued to hear. Apple apparently does not expect that the device – also due to the expected high price of (at least) over 2000 euros – is intended for the mass market. After the start of mass production in the second half of 2026, the group will deliver “several million units of both 2027 and 2028”.

No ironing fold

It remains unclear whether everything comes as Kuo predicts. He stated that the plans could still change as long as Apple has not explained an “official project kickoff”. However, this should be done at short notice. Apple has worked on a foldable for years. Allegedly there should also be a MacBook or an iPad with even larger screen.

Apple is said to be particularly proud of its special design: the hinge should be particularly durable and at the same time light. In addition, the umbrella is supposedly lacking the typical “ironing fold” of foldables or this is almost not perceptible.
