If you want a more precise-or also watch-free-sleep tracking at night, you can go to Sleep-Tracking-Matte Sleep Analyzer Griff by with. The 150 euro device is placed under the mattress and can capture heart rate, breathing, movement and snoring – and read a possible sleep apnea, among other things. The problem: In the past few days, the device has caused problems because of a firmware error. As Withings announced to Mac & I, it has now been remedied.
Fixed errors by new firmware
The problem was to recognize that the Sleep Analyzer first recorded short sleep intervals for several days – starting around May 26th – for about 2 hours or even only 10 minutes. Then he fell out completely and no data arrived in the Withings app. Neither a Reset of the mat still Bleeding help. The error was apparently located in firmware that Withings had automatically delivered to Sleep Analyzer customers. This happens during the day and can only be seen from the fact that a new version number is displayed in the app.
But the new firmware had bugs. It took a while for these to be resolved. The rollout should now be over last Friday (June 13). If you still have difficulties with your Sleep Analyzer, you should definitely leave it on the electricity during the day so that the new firmware can be landed on the device via WLAN.
The pitfalls of the automatic – and missing user fos
The example shows that automatic playing a device software can also have its pitfalls. Usually it can only be initiated by the Sleep Analyzer firmware by being re-connected. After that, the updates take place in the background without the user being able to control this. In the case of firmware errors, the manufacturer should actually inform the users; But that was not the case this time. They were simply amazed that tracking did not work and might think that it was due to the placement of the sleeping mat.
The tactics are similar to that of Apple in its popular Airpods headphones: Here, too, the user cannot officially initiate the update by hand. However, Apple has now decided differently here and will integrate a way from autumn with iOS 26 and Co.
