First of all, we should deal with the basics when it comes to travel systems.
In the EU we now have the same sockets almost everywhere (type C and F). But if you come to England, you can already meet flat outlets with triangular contacts (type G). In the USA and Japan, the two contacts are flat and are parallel to each other (A, B), while Australia and China twist the two plates by 45 degrees in different directions (type I).
In hotels there are mostly universal sockets in the bathroom to operate the shaving apparatus; Elsewhere – for iPhone, iPad or MacBook – you often have to use an adapter. The table on the right shows which important travel countries use which types of plugs. However, there are many countries on earth, such as Belgium, Switzerland, Israel or southern Africa, in which other sockets are used.
