Almost five years after Apple had banished “Fortnite” from the American App Store for the first time, the still popular shooter is back, like it On the official X-account Rated: The iPhone manufacturer implemented a request to a US judge on Wednesday night, which he had again reprinted this week. This means that “Fortnite” can be played not only in the European Union as part of the Epic Games Store for iOS-a so-called alternative app marketplace-but also again in Epic’s home. The most important innovation for the game group: he can now handle payments via web – and Apple must not hinder them and also not place “scare screens”.
Judge wanted to have managers demonstrated
Epic boss Tim Sweeney thanked “For everyone” who would have supported the “efforts for open mobile competition”. Most recently, Spotify had insisted in the form of an “Amicus letter” for Epic Games that the release of the web payments at the streaming service Opportunities for cheaper products opened. It is currently still unclear why Apple now decided to let “Fortnite” in the US app store. Epic Games USA was actually blocked by the developer account – almost five years ago. Apple insisted, also submitted by the Epic Games Sweden branch Don’t be allowed.
The judge responsible in the proceedings, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers from the United States District Court Court Court Court of California, had a complaint from Epic Games that Apple did not want to allow the app – and did not do so for several weeks – with another arrangement Reacts. In it, she made it clear that she believes that Apple can implement her “tasks” without having to hear a hearing or briefing again. In the event that this does not happen, Gonzalez Rogers wanted to show the responsible Apple managers in court-as early as May 27th. This should probably have been Service chief Eddy Cue or App Store boss Phil Schiller.
What “Fortnite” in the US app store means
The release of “Fortnite” in the US app store now allows the app to be reinstalled normally via Apple’s platform in the United States. Use of the app is also possible as usual. If you want to make in-app purchases, this no longer happens via Apple’s platform-where the group receives up to 30 percent commission-but via reference to the web, where the money flows directly to Epic. Since this threatens Apple’s lucrative business model, Apple absolutely wanted to prevent this.
In the European Union things are going a little differently: Here you either install the Altstore or Epics own playgrounds to get “Fortnite” on the device. Apple then only checks these applications superficially for their safety.
