Who doesn’t know it: a little longer for the group chat with the family or friends and you already have a three -digit number of new messages. Meta wants to help users in such cases to remain in the picture without much reading effort – by artificial intelligence (AI). The unread news should first transmit to a AI server, where a summary is then created and sent back. Meta promises special protection of privacy. But there is also a way to deactivate the function for all chat participants.
Similar to the new function Meta Ai recently appeared in WhatsApp with many users, the chat summary should also run when they have been fully developed. The portal hob Has released screenshots on which a button for the new function above the new news can be seen. This has not yet been included in the WhatsApp beta; According to Wabtainfo, the function is still under development.
Summary takes place on meta-servers
If you type on the summary button, you can have a short text out of the new messages with all information. For this purpose, however, the new messages are initially transmitted to the META servers, where they are summarized and then transmitted back. Meta wants to ensure the protection of privacy with its new possibility of “private processing” (private processing).
The group presented this last week. The aim is that user data replaced with META AI can never be intercepted or read. On the one hand, the function is intended to guarantee an anonymized transmission of user data to the META AI services, but still ensure that the information really comes from a real WhatsApp client. In addition, the information on processing on the meta servers should be protected from any access by third parties-be it employees of WhatsApp or Meta, cybercriminal or “harmful users”, as META calls them.
Protection by “private processing”
To enable this, the system initially checks according to Wabtainfo whether the inquiries from legitimate WhatsApp user clients come. The function is intended to protect their identities through secure private routing and create encrypted compounds to a safe, before access by third parties protected. As soon as the connection is established, the user’s device sends inquiries such as summary of messages that the AI processes without keeping the original data. Finally, the result is safely sent back to the user’s device. “Private processing” should therefore be able to be switched on and off in the WhatsApp settings.
However, if you do not want nobody- including your own person- have the messages summarize in a single or group chat, you can rely on the “Advanced Chat Privacy” (“increased chat private sphere”) function. Sensitive conversations and information should remain between the conversation participants and cannot be shared. The AI summary of chat messages are also not usable here.
With its AI functions as part of Apple Intelligence, Apple pursues a similar approach called “Private Cloud Compute” (PCC). With the big difference that Apple Intelligence processes as many inquiries as possible on the device and does not transmit it to external servers. If it is necessary, Apple relies on PCC. However, default without users first set this in the settings.
