Samsung Foundry and Qualcomm will ally for making a 2-nm version of the next generation of Snapdragon 8 Elite’s highest-end chip. The Gen 2 of 8 Elite should be on the market this fall, using a 3-nm TSMC process, and it is expected to be among the main chipsets in most flagship devices of the big players on the smartphone market this and next year.
According to rumors so far, the 2-Nm version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 is likely to be exclusive for the Galaxy smartphone series. The chips will also carry the already traditional “for Galaxy” subtitle, similar to the other Qualcomm chips that the Korean company uses. This means that a factory overclock is available to achieve more impressive results.
If everything goes according to plan, the 2-Nm version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 should start mass production early next year, and the first Samsung devices that will be equipped with it to go out in its second half.
This means that the Galaxy S26 series will most likely use a 3-nm version of 8 Elite Gen 2, manufactured by TSMC, and the result of collaboration between Samsung and Qualcomm will be visible with the advent of the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 folding flagships.
