2026 and 2027: iPhone’s flood in planning?

Apple apparently intends to launch a total of six new iPhones in 2026 and 2027 – more than ever in a generation of equipment. Corresponding rumors come from the Chinese leaker “Instant digital” on the short message service Weibo, which has been correct several times in the past. Other Apple observers, including the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF International Securities, also assume a kind of iPhone’s flood. So that too many devices do not come onto the market at the same time, Apple allegedly plans a step -by -step release, i.e. not only a performance in September 2026, but also in spring 2027. All models have the name iPhone 18 in the name.

Only four models …

For 2026, a second generation of the particularly thin iPhone Air (which is supposed to replace the iPhone 16 Plus in 2025) and iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 are planned. In addition, there is an Apple foldable for the very first time. The “iPhone 18 Fold” (name still unclear) is said to be based on classic foldables from Samsung and Co.

According to one Current report by the Trendforce market researcher If the opened (inner) screen will have 7.8 inches, the external display 5.5 inches. That would be lower dimensions than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (8 inch / 6.5 inches). With this line-up of four models, Apple wants to go to Christmas business in 2026.

… then two more

But it does not stay that: In the spring or the first half of 2027, the iPhone-18 junction continues. Then the iPhone 18 standard model and a new entry-level device called iPhone 18E should come onto the market. That would be unusual, since Apple usually always presents its standard iPhones in autumn. But apparently the group is more important to have more time for special variants such as the foldable at its presentation.

Details on the iPhone 18E have not yet been leaked through. However, it should be based on a pre-model and bring the current SoC technology. The iPhone 16e builds on the form factor on the iPhone 14. It would be conceivable that Apple will give the 18e a Dynamic Island for the first time. It is still unclear whether there will also be an iPhone 17E (i.e. in spring 2026). If the leak is correct, a total of six iPhone-18 models would be on the market in the first half of the year. In addition, older iPhones should also remain available. The selection would then be more big than ever before.
