From iOS / iPados 18.4 and MacOS 15.4 Sequoia, Apple Mail sorts all messages in five categories. This is supposed to steer the flood of e-mail on tracks, the Inbox for really important space and create a better overview-but sometimes causes confusion. The automatic sorting is activated by default, now works in German and also does not support the Apple Intelligence on older iPhones, iPads and Macs. The categories are also integrated into the ICLOUD Mail web app. The sender pictures are also new to iPhones and iPads. Apple Intelligence brings further functions for news in Apple’s email client. There are a few things to consider.
1 Understand and use the new categories
“Important“(Blue Personal symbol) is intended for the relevant emails, such as new news from personal and business contacts. In addition, supposedly time-critical from other categories under” important “appears. For such time-critical messages, for example, the mail app includes a new mobile radio bill or PayPal login information. Inbox list view on the right on the date display of the respective email.
E-mails such as invoices are Apple’s email client in “Transactions“(Green Shopping Car icon). There are also order confirmations from online shops as well as communications from delivery services.
